Disgraced Former Cameron County District Attorney, Armando Villalobos may get another chance at innocence.
A federal judge will decide whether the corruption conviction of Villalobos should be thrown out.
The hearing has been scheduled for next month.
In May a jury convicted the former district attorney on racketeering, bribery and extortion charges, accused of accepting bribes and kickbacks for legal favors.
His defense attorney claims there was insufficient evidence for the verdict.
Villalobos faces up to 20 years in prison per count.
