Educating young women about different aviation career opportunities… that’s what the women in aviation south Texas chapter is doing right here in the Valley.

“The smell of jet fuel burning is better than Chanel #5”

Our biggest objective is to encourage girls to join the aviation industry.  It’s a known fact that only 6% of the pilots are female and I know that we have a long way to go but we have to at least try.

In addition to monthly meetings, the members take their mission to the community with monthly events throughout the year.

We do outreach programs.  We like to go to the schools and hold career fairs and tours.

Earlier this month the women took part in the Women of Aviation Worldwide Week.  They flew 777 girls for free, hoping to inspire them to learn more about the aviation industry.

We have so many members with different backgrounds, so we try to use our expertise and skills to benefit the girls.

Those girls can also benefit through scholarships awarded by the Women in Aviation Organization.
