Weslaco residents have filed a complaint against the city council after they say they were kicked out of an open meeting, a complaint that can lead to jail time.

Residents in Weslaco are not happy after they were asked to leave during a city meeting that took place November 12th.

A formal complaint has been made against city officials stating they have violated the open meeting act by voting on three agenda items after the public had been being kicked out.

The votes were later voided and and had to be re-voted on to prevent further issues.

Community leaders however are not taking the incident lightly.

Violating the state’s open meeting act they could face possible jail time,
