With the government shutdown coming to a close, many people are anxiously awaiting the green light for federal facilities like national parks to open up again.

The Santa Ana and Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuges, along with Palo Alto National Battlefield will reopen to the public once president Barack Obama signs the new measure.

Adolph Thomae, Jr. park in Arroyo City will also open.

Although this park is maintained by Cameron County it actually sits on federal land.
