Dozens of valley children got to take a break from some of life’s most challenging hardships and be just kids. The 4th annual “Celebration of Life Dinner” was held at the Palmer Pavilion in McAllen.  The kids you see are patients at Vannie E. Cook junior Children’s Center battling cancer.

But tonight they stuffed their faces with good ol’ barbeque.

“It’s just great to know that there are people out there who will do things like this for us,” explains Valeria Garza, cancer patient.

Officials at Vannie Cook junior say it’s events like this that give thanks for the gift of a second chance at a healthy life.
