MCALLEN – federal agents are investigating a shooting involving a U.S. border patrol agent this afternoon.

The incident happened around 3:30 on 10th street and Jackson Avenue in McAllen.

According to authorities, a U.S. border patrol agent following a suspicious vehicle fired a shot because he thought his life was in danger.

“The agent felt that his life was threatened and he discharged his service issued pistol. Nobody was injured in the incident, there are however 7 individuals in custody, “explains Daniel Tirado, U.S. border patrol spokesperson.

Those individuals are believed to be undocumented immigrants. We’re told two vehicles were also seized during the investigation.

The McAllen police department also assisted border patrol during this incident. However the case has been turned over to the FBI.
