“Stop obsessing over money and help the poor and the elderly.”

That’s the message from Pope Francis.  In his written statement entitled “the joy of the gospel.”

Francis calls unlimited capitalism “a new tyranny.”

The Vatican says the pope’s laying out a vision for renewing the Catholic Church with more focus on the underprivileged. A spokesman quotes Francis as saying money is “a fetish” of modern society and the rich must share more of their wealth.

In his statement, the pope asks why a two-point drop in the stock market is bigger news than the death of a homeless person.

The church calls the pope’s statement an “Apostolic Exhortation”

With Francis asking Catholics to live the teachings of Jesus Christ every day.
