The South Texas College Police Department is investigating after an assault on campus today.

Several FOX 2 News viewers sent us screenshots of text messages and emails of a notification sent through STC’S ‘Timely Notice’ security system. That message advising students and faculty that an assault had taken place at the pecan campus.

We spoke with a student on campus who says she was notified not just through text and email–but also with a phone call.

“Since I got a call and a text and an email i figured it was pretty serious… But I wasn’t sure.”

A statement released from STC claims the assailant, a Hispanic man, approximately 40 years old, assaulted a female student on the south side of campus and that additional patrols were added to the area.
