Tuesday afternoon dozens of undocumented immigrants we’re picked up by authorities at what’s believed to be a human smuggling stash house outside the city of Mission.
At around 3 p.m. Immigration and Customs Enforcement surrounded a residence off La Homa Road and Mile 10 that held an estimated 81 individuals allegedly part of a human smuggling operation.
Authorities say their nationalities ranged from the countries of Guatemala, El Salvador, Mexico, Honduras and Nicaragua. They add the trend of nationals coming from countries other then Mexico is becoming all too common in our region.
Authorities also located at 45-caliber pistol at the residence that might have belonged to one of the four people detained, whom agents presume to be human smugglers. This case is still under investigation.
