Heavy activity centered around a man who is responsible for the future of Valley children.

According to neighbors, investigators arrived around 7 a.m. to East Kika De La Garza Boulevard where La Joya School Board Member Juan Jose “JJ” Garza resides.

With a search warrant, the housing and development division from the Inspector General office was aided by different agencies from multiple branches of the government, who searched through piles of documents at the residence, as well as at The La Joya Housing Authority where Garza serves as director.

All of the agencies were tight-lipped about the investigation, but a source tells FOX2 that an employee at the housing authority was questioned at his Peñitas home.

Garza, along with other school board and campaign team members, are being sued by political rivals who accused the officials of corruption. Prosecution attorney Javier Peña confirmed being in contact with federal authorities, but it is unknown if the cases are related to what took place today.
