It is a good week for the city of Mission, the Planned Parenthood Association of Hidalgo plans to reopen its Galloway Center tomorrow after being closed for nearly two years.
The facility is reopening thanks to a federal Title X Program Act, which is administered by the Woman’s Health and Family Planning Association of Texas and private donations.
The Mission facility was just one of 50 to close due to state budget cuts in 2011. It is the only facility in the state to reopen its doors. Its expected to serve between two to three thousand people, 90 percent of which do not have health insurance and live below the poverty level. The Galloway Center can provide preventative health care services such as physical exams, contraception education and supplies, HIV testing and treatment and clinical breast exams.
The public grand reopening ceremony will be tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. at the Galloway Center located at 1201 Conway Ave. in Mission if you want to partake in the festivities.
