Well it’s official! Hidalgo Commissioners Court officially proclaimed this October 2013 as Breast Cancer Awareness Month in Hidalgo County.
The Commissioners Court and representatives from the Doctor’s Hospital of Renaissance met Tuesday to bring awareness to breast cancer and encourage the community to get involved in various activities and initiatives to support the cause.
And there are plenty of ways for the community to get involved this month.
Here are just a few.
Tomorrow, Doctor’s Hospital at Renaissance is holding a Power of Pink Bra Decorating Contest. The event will be held in the Main Lobby from 9 am until 3 p.m. Guests can vote for their favorite bra decorated by hospital staff for just one dollar. All proceeds are to benefit the Renaissance Cancer Center.
You can lace up your walking shoes and participate in the 5th annual “Love you Cha Chas 5K run/walk for breast cancer awareness this Saturday at 8 a.m. online registration is closed, but you can still sign up the day of the event.
Entry fees are just $25 for individuals, $20 for groups of 10 or more, kids age 10 and under are free and cancer survivors pay only $10. Proceeds are to benefit the Renaissance Cancer Foundation.
