Today, the outpouring of people were celebrating the life of 45-year-old Heriberto “Betito” Flores Junior. Betito was considered La Joya coyotes biggest fan, but last Friday’s game was his last. He was struck and killed by a vehicle as he walked home after the game.

The countless lives he touched could be today, as those who loved him gathered at the high school for a procession, followed by a funeral and burial.

“He touched so many lives, people will remember his smile the most,” says George Espinoza, head coach, La Joya coyotes

Betito had been working in the maintenance department for La Joya-ISD for over 20 years. Preparations for a tribute for Betito are under way for Friday’s football game.
