EDINBURG (KFXV) — Today Marcos Ochoa’s lawyer and representatives from the elections department were present at the Hidalgo County Courthouse.
In the lawsuit, Arnaldo Corpus is calling for a new election. He claims that the voter count during the runoff elections was incorrect.
Former candidate for Justice of the Peace from Hidalgo County Precinct 3, Place 2, Arnaldo Corpus submitted a lawsuit to dispute the election results from the May 24th election, in which Marcos Ochoa won.
According to the lawsuit, there were a significant amount of illegal votes counted to influence the election results.
In a fox 2 exclusive interview, Corpus says that he made several requests within the lawsuit that can prove that his claims are true.
In the documents, Corpus also emphasizes that election officials or other persons officially involved in the administration of the election, allowed the manipulation of voting equipment.
Marcos Ochoa’s lawyer who was present during the hearing, declined to comment.
The next hearing will be this Friday and the trial will begin on August 17th.
