Three days after the decision from the Federal Judge in Austin, the two only abortion clinics in the Valley will have to stop providing that service.

Overnight clinics in the Valley such as Whole Woman’s Health in McAllen and Reproductive Services in Harlingen will not be allowed to perform abortions.

The new Texas law, which was scheduled to go into effect on Tuesday was ruled unconstitutional, claiming the law had no medical purpose.

A decision taken to the 5th court of appeals in New Orleans by Attorney General, Greg Abbott and overturned.

Restrictions were immediately reinstated forcing abortion clinic to perform with ambulatory surgical centers, operate no more than 30 mi. away from a hospital, and restrict the procedure within 20 weeks of a pregnancy.

For now, Planned Parenthood will proceed with the lawsuit they’ve filed against the state, which could end up taking the case to a Supreme Court.

The clinics in the Valley will still be able to perform other women’s health services such as ultrasounds, contraceptives, and pregnancy tests.
