The deposition of Guadalupe Lupe Treviño resumed this afternoon in a civil lawsuit that alleges the former Hidalgo County sheriff failed to report illegal contributions to his election campaign in 2012.
The Javier Peña law firm representing the ex-political rival Robert Caples continued their remaining two hours of a deposition that was interrupted two weeks ago by Treviño’s attorney, Preston Henrichson, in protest for the kind of questioning of his client.
Since then, both lawyers filed complaints against each other for their alleged actions during and after the initial deposition.
On Wednesday a judge prohibited that Peña continue to share details of the deposition to the public until further notice.
At the same time he was also allowed to resume the deposition and continue questioning the former sheriff for the purposes of collecting testimonial evidence and help prepare his case.
