Harlingen (KFXV) — A man is accused of allegedly kidnapping and murdering a 13 year old girl. Now his criminal case is once again postponed.
26 year- old, Ruben Torres will have to wait on the final decision of his fate once more..
As his case was postponed for the third time.
Authorities informed Fox 2 News, that the DNA samples sent to a lab for further examination are not available at the moment making it impossible to begin the pre- trail hearing.
The 103rd District Court was set to revise the case this morning.
Torres is accused of Abigail Estrada’s homicide. Estrada was a 13 year old Harlingen resident who went missing nine years ago.
Officials believe Torres kidnapped his then girlfriend estrada and later took her life.
To this day Estrada’s body has yet to be found.
This case dates back to 2007 with several attempts to sentence the alleged murderer. Officials have not stopped fighting to demonstrate Torres’ involvement in this case even after his charges were dropped for lack of evidence.
In 2015, his case was re-opened and Torres was transferred from a juvenile court to a district court to be tried as an adult although the presumed homicide was committed when he was a minor.
