A man wanted for capital murder was arrested as he tried to re-enter the country illegally with a group of immigrants near Rio Grande City.
Jose Antonio Vera Jaimes was detained by border patrol agents Friday and turned over to Hidalgo County sheriff’s investigators after agents determined is true identity.
Vera Jaimes was a suspect in the 2005 murder of Carlos Jesus Flores Alamirra in the McCook area, after the victim was kidnapped and shot to death. Vera Jaimes was also a suspect in a 2006 criminal attempted capital murder investigation where the victim was kidnapped, shot in the face and left for dead.
The suspect was arraigned this afternoon on both charges and issued a 1.5 million dollar bond.
