Police say the domino effect of arrests in the point-blank shooting of an Alton man, who was killed just inches away from his family, is now over.
Authorities say a sixth and final suspect has been charged in the murder of 31-year-old Jose Luis Gonzalez. According to investigators, 26-year-old Ricardo Navarette Lozano is believed to be the trigger man.
They say Navarette Lozano, A.K.A. “El Negro” fled to Mexico after the killing, and was detained this weekend trying to re-enter the U.S. at the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge. He was issued a $ 5 million bond.
On November 26, Gonzalez was shot as he sat in his pick-up truck with his wife and children outside a gas station in Alton. Police say Gonzalez, identified as a human stash house operator, was killed amid a botched effort to abduct his group of undocumented immigrants.
