A violent gun battle in Mexico that claimed over a dozen lives just miles from Cameron County, resulted in arrests here in the Valley.

According to the Brownsville Herald, Cruz Moises Garcia and Julio Cesar Solis-Castilleja were arrested Monday on gun-running, weapons and ammunition charges.

Federal authorities believe the two smuggled weapons in connection to Sunday’s firefight, that claimed at least 13 lives in the Matamoros, Tamaulipas.
