A 17-year-old female from Progreso faces several counts of aggravated kidnapping after allegedly holding a group of immigrants against their will and threatening to cut off their fingers.
17-year-old Stephany Lee Martinez was charged with 7 separate charges of aggravated kidnapping after holding a group of immigrants against their will at this home located at the 1500 block of Baker Street in Progreso.
According to this criminal report, Martinez abused the group of immigrants psychologically, threatening to shoot them or cut off their fingers and make them eat them if they didn’t pay their smuggling fees. She also told the victims, they couldn’t leave until the full amount was paid.
It wasn’t until a female victim managed to use a cell phone to dial 911 to report the crime. That’s when Hidalgo County HIDTA Task Force Agents and Progreso Police located the home and conducted the arrest of the suspects, and rescued the victims.
Judge Rosa Trevino tells Fox 2 news these serious threats coming from a 17-year-old are not to be taken lightly.
Martinez’s husband, Marcos Antonio Zamorano was also taken into custody and turned over to Homeland Security investigations on federal harboring Martinez remains incarcerated on a bonds totaling one million 750 thousand. Judge Trevino also tells us that the immigrants are doing well and are now receiving food and water.
