A World War II veteran is on a mission, to save one of the last surviving ships used in the D-Day Invasion of Normandy in 1944.

92-year-old Ernest Andrus is walking across the country, raising money to restore the landing ship tank, or ‘LST’ 325 now docked in Evansville, Indiana.

Currently in Texas, Andrus began his cross-country mission near San Diego on October 7, 2013. He plans to complete his mission within the next two years, and welcomes anyone willing to join.
