Weapons Analysis Postpones Trial for Jaguars Shooting
EDINBURG (KFXV) — The man suspected of killing a man and injuring six with gunfire at a gentlemen’s club made an appearance in court today.
Yet another hearing has been scheduled as a trial date is pending the analysis of several weapons.
Genaro Maldonado Martinez stood before State District Court Judge Rodolfo Delgado who set a new pretrial hearing date for April the 27th – when part of the evidence – a ballistics report is complete. A trial date has been postponed several times due to a delay in the weapons analysis.
30-year-old Maldonado is accused of shooting several people at a gentlemen’s club last April. He was allegedly kicked out of the establishment after being involved in a fight authorities believe he returned and began firing into the club – causing one death and injuring six more.
Maldonaldo faces one murder charge, one count of attempt to commit capital murder charge, one count of unlawful possession of a firearm and seven counts of attempted murder.
Maldonado is scheduled to be back in court on April the 27th when a trial date could be determined. If convicted he could face life in prison.
