Michoacán violence continues between vigilantes, cartel

The violent unrest continues in the Mexican state of Michoacán with vigilantes reportedly holding tight to their weapons.

Mexican officials asked citizen militias to drop their weapons on Monday but that hasn’t happened.

Leading to ongoing deadly clashes with the Knights of Templar cartel and an end doesn’t appear in immediate sight.

According to the associated press the number of deaths in the yearlong vigilante-cartel battle is unclear, but Michoacán’s homicide count has doubled since September.
