Today the University of Texas Board of regents approved the academic structure of the new UT-RGV complex, considered a key move forward in making the new university and medical school a reality.
The schools newly appointed president guy bailey proposed 11 colleges and schools that will form the academic foundation for the new institution, which includes an honor college and a graduate college that will offer advanced degrees and create more opportunities for research.
The university as a whole will embody eleven colleges and schools, all reporting to the provost, a position that is expected to be filled in the coming months, along with other executive hires in academic affairs, finance, administration, human resources and compliance.
