MISSION – A 14-year-old is hospitalized after he has an argument with another teen that ends in a shootout.

According to authorities, the two minors shot each other, after a disagreement about money.

It was the mother of one of the teens that alerted Hidalgo County authorities that her son had just been shot.

It was close to midnight on Sunday that county authorities responded to the home on the 8000th block of Senecio St in Mission.

According to nearby residents, the two teens live just next door to each other.

The younger teen’s family told authorities a shotgun and a .40 caliber handgun were fired.

A family member of the 14 year old, told Fox 2 News off camera, the boy had to undergo surgery for the severity of his injuries.

He is expected to have a second operation tomorrow morning.

The 16-year-old has since been released from the hospital and is back at his home.

It’s still unknown if any of the teens will face charges.
