School’s out for the summer and that means one thing for United Blood Services…fewer blood donations. United Blood Services is responsible for providing blood to 18 hospitals across the Valley. They rely heavily on schools and consumer businesses for these donations. Tomorrow and Saturday, United Blood Services will be at Chick-Fil-A locations in Brownsville taking blood donations from 12 until 7 p.m. For the eighth year in a row, the restaurant has partnered up with UBS to collect blood—receiving a record breaking 474 units last year. Each blood donor receives a free Chick-Fil-A t-shirt, a Chick-Fil-A coupon and a free cholesterol test. UBS will be at Chick-Fil-A. Now to be an eligible donor, you must be 16 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Those who are 16 years old will need a parent’s permission.
