McAllen (KFXV) — Hundreds of people at The Sacred Heart Church Respite Center shared a Thanksgiving meal for the first time. Several local businesses got together to organize a turkey meal for 500 hundred refugees in McAllen, an effort they say is well worth it. Immigrants like Amparo Linares who left her native Guatemala says she is grateful she made it to the land of opportunities. Hundreds of valley families gathering today at the LUPE Union Hall in San Juan, for the 14th annual Hidalgo County Bar Foundation thanksgiving food drive distribution party.
