300 Granjero Residents Affected by Storm

Not only the event center, but the damage caused by the heavy rains left as many as 300 Granjero residents’ homes in ruins. However, help from county and nearby city officials, have alleviated the burden storms left residents in the small town. About 80 percent of properties in the town are total losses. Electricity Restored across RGV Four Days after Storm

Four days after severe storms knocked out electricity for 28,000 valley residents AEP says all power has been restored. Crews worked extended shifts to repair power lines and transformers damaged by heavy rain and wind gusts of up 60 miles an hour. This morning AEP listed more than 200 homes remained in the dark but by 2 pm, all four counties were reported back to normal. 35 Rescued from Starr County Following Storm, City Officials Handing out Free Sandbags to Control Flooding

Starr County — City officials tell us at least 35 people had to be rescued following last night’s storm. Authorities continue to help those who have not yet been able to return to their homes as many streets and houses in the area are still flooded. The Rio Grande City manager is asking residents to be patient as officials visit different areas of the city to aid those most affected.
