More than $4.8 Million Worth of Marijuana Seized

The Texas Department of Public Safety is reporting that their agents seized nearly half a ton of marijuana in Starr County. According to DPS, troopers made a traffic stop in Rio Grande City, where the driver fled on foot. RIO GRANDE CITY (KFXV) — A drug transaction has an 18 year old facing over a year in federal prison. 18 year old, Dario Martinez states in these court documents that he was approached by two strangers offering him a large amount of money. Two Thousand Pounds of Marijuana Seized

Rio Grande City (KFXV) — Two thousand pounds of marijuana were seized this weekend after a truck drove into the Rio Grande. Agents saw the driver as he sped away from the river—then sped back south and drove right into the water. When agents got there, the vehicle was partially submerged. 1350 pounds of marijuana were found on the bed of the truck. Agents also found a set of footprints near Los Arrieros that led to a brushy area. There is where authorities found 36 bundles of Marijuana. Previously Deported Man Arrested Near Roma

Roma (KFXV) — According to federal documents, agents with the Harlingen Fugitive Operations unit arrested a previously deported Mexican man.  On Thursday of last week, Harlingen police arrested 41-year-old Rigoberto Olvera-Martinez near Rio Grande City.  According to police, Martinez confessed to illegally crossing back into the U.S. in May of last year near Roma.  Martinez received a conviction in June of 2006 for importing more than 5 kilos of cocaine, and has a 41-month sentence. Martinez received a court-appointed lawyer and awaits his...
