Title or money? The give-and-take of one-and-done in hoops

BY EDDIE PELLS GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — The teenager who plays hoops for a year in college and then leaves for the NBA used to be part novelty, part nuisance. These days, it’s as common as a 3-pointer and as acceptable as your office bracket pool. Once the domain of Kentucky, Duke and few other select schools, the so-called one-and-dones now come from all over the country. The run on freshmen in the 2017 NBA draft has the potential to go a dozen deep before an upperclassmen’s name is called. They’ll come from Tobacco Road at Duke and the...

Curry ends slump with 31, Warriors beat Knicks 112-105

BY BRIAN MAHONEY – AP BASKETBALL WRITER NEW YORK (AP) — Stephen Curry’s shot still wasn’t falling, and that wasn’t the only strange thing. Madison Square Garden’s decision to play no sound during warmups or stoppages in play in the first half Sunday created a silent setting that was more fitting for middle school than a nationally televised NBA game. "It was weird," Curry said. Everything was back to normal by the end. Curry broke out of a shooting slump with 31 points and moved into the top 10 on the NBA’s career 3-point list, and the Golden State...

Coaches and executives took the time to engage in self-scouting and trade talks to figure out how they want to approach the last two months of the regular season. When...

All-Star DeMarcus Cousins is changing his address from Sacramento to New Orleans, Serge Ibaka was sent last week from Orlando to Toronto – and the next few days will likely see Carmelo Anthony, Jimmy Butler, Taj Gibson, Reggie Jackson and many more all discussed by...

LeBron James labels Charles Barkley ‘a hater’ for criticism

DALLAS (AP) — LeBron James has apparently had enough of Charles Barkley’s criticism. Barkley took issue last week with James’ call for the Cavaliers to secure another playmaker to help contend for a second-straight NBA title. The outspoken TNT "Inside the NBA" analyst called James "inappropriate" and "whiny." James told ESPN following the Cavs 104-97 loss at Dallas on Monday night that Barkley is "a hater" and added that he’s not going to let Barkley "disrespect my legacy." James also brought up some of Barkley’s past controversies and legal troubles, before saying, "All I’ve done for my entire career...
