McAllen ISD to Host ‘EDUFest’

McAllen (KFXV) — McAllen ISD hosts its first ever enrollment “EDUFest”. The event will showcase many of the ways to empower students (robotics, coding, Advanced Academics, Fine Arts, athletics, dual language, visual and performing arts, all day pre-K, chess, etc.) EDUFest will take place this Saturday, April 22 at the McAllen Performing Arts Center. The district encourages families and friends who are not currently enrolled in McAllen schools to take part. Enrollment officers will be on hand to answer questions. McAllen ISD Arrests Three in Clown Hoaxes

Mcallen/Pharr (KFXV) — The McAllen ISD Police Department made three arrests in connection to a clown-threat hoax. According to authorities, these students ages 15 to 16 threatened to attack several schools through their instagram accounts. The juvenile suspects will be charged with making a false report. Donna ISD School Board Approves ‘Due Process’ Policy to Protect Employees from Unfair Practices

The Donna ISD school board unanimously approves a resolution aimed at protecting employees from unfair practices. The Teachers Association in Donna says it worked on the proposal for over three years to help pass a ‘due process’ policy to protect ‘at-will’ employees from being demoted, replaced or fired without a just cause. Transgender Students Allowed to Go into Restroom of Choice

Transgender students will now have access to the restroom they identify themselves with thanks to new federal regulations. However, there are those who are already opposed to the idea. In a letter sent out by President Barack Obama, all school districts must allow transgender students to use the restroom they identify with. Those districts who wish to oppose to the idea could see repercussions.
