Raymondville (KFXV) — The Willacy County District Attorney is seeking maximum punishment for two men accused of killing a border patrol agent. According to reports, in August of this year, off duty agent, Javier Vega Jr. was fishing in a canal with his parents, wife and children when Gustavo Tijerina Sandoval and Ismael Hernandez Vallejo attempted to rob them. A grand jury has indicted two men in connection with the shooting death of an off-duty U.S. border patrol agent. 30 year old Gustavo Tijerina Sandoval and 40 year old Ismael Hernandez Vallejo were charged with one count for capital murder and a second count of attempted capital murder in connection to the death of 36 year old Javier Vega Junior. New developments in the shooting death of a border patrol agent last week. Authorities are investigating if a gun found at a home is the same murder weapon used to shoot and kill border patrol agent Javier Vega Junior. The weapon was apparently found at a home in Sebastian, in Willacy county. The same location where suspects Gustavo Tijerina and Ismael Hernandez were arrested. La Feria (KFXV) – Family, friends and colleagues gathered today to pay their last respects to a border patrol agent killed over the weekend. A funeral mass took place at St. Francis Xavier Parish in La Feria, this morning for border patrol agent Javier Vega, Jr., killed while off- duty during a fishing trip with his family.
