Jailer Facing Charges of Sexual Abuse of Inmate

Hidalgo County (KFXV) – The arrest of one of their own after an investigation revealed he sexual assaulted an inmate. The ex-jailer identified as Michael Hinojosa is facing one charge for improper sexual activity with a person in custody. Investigators say the sexual abuse happened in the booking area while the inmate waited to have his fingerprints taken. Mother behind Walmart Theft Faces Judge

A McAllen mother is charged with aggravated robbery after allegedly plotting the theft of a television with her two under aged children. 42 year-old Mereida Hinojosa and her 10 and 15 year-old sons were arrested Monday evening, after police received an anonymous tip that the family was behind Saturday’s Wal-Mart theft. Hinojosa’s sons were seen leaving the Edinburg Wal-Mart located at the intersection of McColl and Trenton with a stolen 50-inch television set. Edcouch Awarded Multi-Million Dollar Grant

The money awarded is a combination of a loan and a grant that will be used for improvements to Edcouch’s wastewater management system. This has been the city’s wastewater treatment facility for over 30 years, today however marks a very important day for the community. Congressman Rubén Hinojosa joined federal and local officials to announce a grant for $2,1 million dollars and a loan for $1,8, which was presented to the city of Edcouch for expansion and improvements to the facility and treatment system. “What that means is that it will create jobs as a result of being able to produce a lot more portable water and treat waste water because without that you cannot attract businesses or ask current ones to expand,” Edcouch’s population is currently around 3003 the congressman says he hopes the new changes will also attract tourist and increase the population of the city. The old facility, built in the 1980’s will be decommissioned as it has exceeded its life expectancy. “It is something that was long due and we have been trying to do for years so we needed that change,” The new facility will provide water services for at least 900 families.
