22 Icy Road Accidents Reported

Icy road conditions causing at least 22 accidents in Harlingen last night. It was between six in the afternoon and two in the morning that the dangerous road conditions on Expressway 77 led to several drivers losing control. Harlingen police together with the department of transportation closing off the intersection of Highways 77 and Highway 83 heading north, south and west. Man Steals Purse From 81-Year-Old Woman

Police in Brownsville are looking for a purse snatcher. On December 20th at around 7:20 am on the 800 block of East Adams Street, a man forcibly took a purse from an 81-year-old woman as she was walking down the block. He was last seen driving a blue Ford Ranger Edge with a toolbox in the truck bed.  The vehicle was seen several times on that same block before this happened. Elderly Man Loses Home To Fire

An elderly man is rescued from a house fire but loses everything in an instant. 85-year-old Pablo Gomez’s home located at 801 North Street in Harlingen was reduced to ashes after a fire was reported this morning at around 10 am. Firefighters responding to the scene but by the time the fire was suffocated, it was too late. Mr. Gomez says he was sitting drinking coffee and reading the newspaper when his neighbor alerted him to the flames. He is grateful to have been rescued but now needs the community’s help.
