Man sentenced to 360 months for Trafficking Meth

A man received a sentence for his involvement and trafficking narcotics through Brownsville to Florida. According to the US District Attorney’s Office 33-year-old Oscar Sosa received 360 months in a federal prison after a jury convicted him, in October of last year, for hiring individuals to cross methamphetamines by bus as they carry the packages on their person. Agents with the border patrol arrested woman near Rio Grande City, Saturday as she left from a shopping center. According to border patrol, law enforcement took the woman identified as Leticia Garcia the Harlingen, where they communicated with her family. Agencies in Harlingen Investigate Toddler Death

Harlingen (KFXV) – Agencies in Harlingen are investigating the death of a toddler. According to authorities the two-year-old has been identified as Catalina Desaray Castaneda who allegedly fell down a flight of stairs and sustained serious injuries. The fall happened Wednesday the 19th near the 1800 block of south 3rd street. Emergency responders found Catalina unresponsive at the scene and transported her to an area hospital where she died of her injuries. Previously Deported Man Arrested Near Roma

Roma (KFXV) — According to federal documents, agents with the Harlingen Fugitive Operations unit arrested a previously deported Mexican man.  On Thursday of last week, Harlingen police arrested 41-year-old Rigoberto Olvera-Martinez near Rio Grande City.  According to police, Martinez confessed to illegally crossing back into the U.S. in May of last year near Roma.  Martinez received a conviction in June of 2006 for importing more than 5 kilos of cocaine, and has a 41-month sentence. Martinez received a court-appointed lawyer and awaits his...

DPS investigates ATV death in Harlingen

The driver was initially charged with intoxication assault however that changed after the passenger lost his life. 35-year-old Juan Javier Arredondo is behind bars facing an intoxication manslaughter charge. According to the Department of Public Safety, the preliminary investigation shows that an ATV occupied by two people was traveling southbound on Ebony road when the passenger identified as 28-year-old Jacob Israel Flores fell off the vehicle sustaining major injuries. Flores was transported to Valley Baptist Medical Center. Police say Arredondo was then arrested for intoxication assault.
