Willacy Co. Sheriff Under Investigation for Misuse of Funds

WILLACY COUNTY (KFXV) — The Willacy County Sheriff, Larry Spencer confirmed that their office is under investigation by the Texas Rangers and Homeland Security. It stems from discrepancies found in use of funds from the “Stone Garden” and “Border Star” grants that pay for overtime work. As part of their protocol, the investigation will audit records regarding dispersal of funds.
