Harlingen police arrested a man for robbery of a convenience store. The incident happened near the 1500 Block in 77 Sunshine Strip at around 5 o’clock in the morning. According to police, an employee said a male entered the store with a knife and demanded money and cigarettes estimated at 60 bucks. The suspect then fled in a Chevy Impala. Woman Arrested For Drug Possession

Harlingen (KFXV) — Police arrest a woman for drug possession. 32 year old, Margarita Garcia was pulled over on the on the 2200 block of Athens in a maroon Pontiac grand prix after a traffic violation. Officers said they could smell an overwhelming odor of marijuana and saw a plastic baggie with the drugs in the center console. Garcia gave them permission to search the vehicle and they found a bottle of ecstasy pills, several clear plastic baggies with marijuana, two marijuana cigarettes and four clear baggies with cocaine found in a cigarette box. NEW YORK (AP) — The nation seems to be kicking its smoking habit faster than ever before. The rate of smoking among adults in the U.S. fell to 15 percent last year thanks to the biggest one-year decline in more than 20 years, according to a new government report. SAN DIEGO (AP) — A campaign to raise California’s cigarette tax by $2 a pack said Monday it has collected enough signatures to qualify the proposal for the Nov. 8 ballot and raise the prospect of a pocketbook jolt for smokers in the nation’s most populous state.
