A chase for a violent inmate ended in a shooting in San Benito

Olmito (KFXV) — A chase for an inmate who escaped from authorities and then killed someone during a carjacking, ended in a shooting in San Benito. Authorities tell us the inmate whose been identified as Miguel Garcia died after a gunshot exchange with law enforcement. According to Brownsville police, it was near one this afternoon when the received a call of an aggravated assault on the 3700 block of Boca Chica Boulevard. On the Scene: Human Remains Found in Rio Hondo

We are north of Center line road just outside of Rio Hondo where authorities appear are investigating human remains discovered nearby. As you can see, the scene is still very active with several agencies, including Brownsville, Rio Hondo, Harlingen as well as the leading agency which is the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office.  A medical examiner did confirm that a human skull was found here.  A dive team has also arrived on the scene to search a nearby canal. Body Discovered in Brownsville

BROWNSVILLE (KFXV) A body has been discovered in the city of Brownsville. This afternoon officers with the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on Arkansas Street. Authorities tell us it was the stepson who found his stepfather’s body. Right now the investigation continues to determine the cause of death given that the body was found hanging from a tree. Border Patrol Agent Linked To Gulf Cartel Beheading In South Padre Island

A Border Patrol agent arrested in connection to the decapitation of a Honduran national found on South Padre Island. Thirty-year-old Joel Luna is facing capital murder charges related to the March death of Jose Francisco Palacios Paz. Luna was arrested in Hebbronville last night after investigators seized a safe filled with cocaine, methamphetamine, $89,000 in cash, and three fire arms from his mother-in-law’s San Juan home.
