We spoke to officials from the Brownsville Public Utilities Board (BPUB), who tell us a man tried going into a home this week, as an acting employee of this agency. According to BPUB, the impersonator tried going into a residence suggesting he was there to do some tests. Brownsville Phone Scam Targets Your Personal Info

A dangerous scam is traveling through the Brownsville area. Scammers targeting callers for their social security and bank account info. The Brownsville public utilities board is warning customers of a theft scam involving unsolicited phone calls in which phony employees claim you have an unpaid utility bill and need to provide their bank account information. BPUB says this isn’t the first time this has happened and that you should never have to give any personal information over the phone.
