Curry ends slump with 31, Warriors beat Knicks 112-105

BY BRIAN MAHONEY – AP BASKETBALL WRITER NEW YORK (AP) — Stephen Curry’s shot still wasn’t falling, and that wasn’t the only strange thing. Madison Square Garden’s decision to play no sound during warmups or stoppages in play in the first half Sunday created a silent setting that was more fitting for middle school than a nationally televised NBA game. "It was weird," Curry said. Everything was back to normal by the end. Curry broke out of a shooting slump with 31 points and moved into the top 10 on the NBA’s career 3-point list, and the Golden State...

Doping report details ‘institutional conspiracy’ in Russia

LONDON (AP) — A new report into systematic Russian doping details a wide-ranging "institutional conspiracy" that involved more than 1,000 athletes across more than 30 sports, including evidence corroborating large-scale sample swapping at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. "It is impossible to know just how deep and how far back this conspiracy goes," McLaren...

Patriots go from Brady to back up to Brissett, keep winning

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — The more assets the Patriots lose this season, the better they seem to play. New England entered Week 3 of Tom Brady’s four-game "Deflategate" suspension down to just one healthy full-time quarterback following backup Jimmy Garoppolo’s shoulder injury last week against Miami. But not even one of the NFL’s top-ranked defenses could slow down a Patriots train that has barely missed a beat while getting off to a 3-0 start. The latest exhibition was a 27-0 dismantling of the Houston Texans (2-1), a team that suddenly looked very pedestrian. "We really asked a lot out...

Jurors were not able to reach a verdict in a woman’s murder trial this morning and declared a mistrial. Alicia Esquivel Delgado allegedly beat her father, 62 year old Rodolfo Delgado to death in his McAllen home on July 2013. This morning, 139th state district judge Bobby Flores declared a mistrial in the case after jurors informed him that they couldn’t come to a unanimous decision. Delgado’s attorney argued that the case was self defense since the victim had snapped after consuming alcohol and drugs. A new trial date hasn’t been set....
