Two Alleged Gang Members Arrested With Help of Gang Unit

Two suspected gang members affiliated with the Texas Chicano Brotherhood are now off the streets. They were targeted by investigators who were able to locate them outside Rio Grande City thanks in part by the San Juan Gang Unit.  Investigators serving arrest warrants capture 19-year-old Emmanuel Alexis Chapa in the community of Santa Cruz, and 28-year-old Ryan Villarreal in the community of Las Lomas. Investigators Identify Suspects Behind Drug Related Homicide

Hidalgo County Sheriff investigators identify two men linked to a fatal shooting that happened Monday night near Mission. Arrest warrants were issued for 23-year-old, Jesus Rafael Tapia and 29-year-old Maximino Herrera for capital murder charges. Police say both men are implicated in the homicide of Israel Jaramillo Abundis, who was found dead Monday on Cedar Rapids Street. Investigators believed the situation arose from a drug deal gone bad. Pursuit Suspect found Hiding in Trash Bin Identified

In San Juan, two men involved in a chase with state police are identified. The driver, Danny Saveedra, had two pending arrest warrants for larceny and evading arrest. His passenger is identified as Jaime Torres. The men led police on a chase, up César Chavez Road on Wednesday; then ended up crashing into a palm tree. Torres was arrested at the crash site, while Saveedra fled on foot, only to be caught hours later, hiding inside a trash bin in a nearby neighborhood. Police-Involved Standoff Ends in Arrest

Tonight in Brownsville a standoff took place between police and a wanted suspect. Thirty-two year-old Daniel Gamez was arrested after allegedly refusing to cooperate with police following a traffic stop at the intersection of Price and Rockwell around 3 pm. Against police orders, Gamez remained inside his vehicle with his 8-year-old daughter for over an hour until authorities were able to negotiate with him.
