Suspects in Donna Police Chase Identified

Donna (KFXV) — Fox cameras were first on the scene after a chase ended in a Donna neighborhood. Two men were arrested and faced a judge today.

The driver of the vehicle – identified by police as 20-year-old, Jonathan Chavez – struck a tree in the front yard of a home on South Avenue near Hutto Road. Investigators say – Chavez then reversed the vehicle and deliberately struck a dps units while trying to get away.

Inside his car, police found 10 bundles of marijuana, totaling 239 pounds, with an estimated street value – of nearly a million and a half dollars.
Chavez faces charges for evading arrest, possession of marijuana and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Authorities also arresting his passenger, identified as 49-year-old, Melcho Gaspar Diaz-Ponce a resident of Mexico -who’s charged with possession of marijuana. Both were transported to the Hidalgo County Jail.
