Hidalgo County (KFXV) — In recent weeks, the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office has used social media to track down several auto theft suspects.
In recent weeks, the Sheriff’s department has been posting more and more images of persons of interest in auto theft investigations, they say the use of social media has helped solve many cases.

July 27, a black Chevy Silverado is stolen from rural Mission.

Four days later in Sullivan a 2012 Chevy Silverado is taken.

Thieves target rural Mission again on August 5th, police release these photos in hopes of identifying two men.

Local businesses, have seen a spike in the purchase of anti theft devices.

They highlight the importance of installing anti-theft devices to avoid becoming a victim.

Officials say that each crime is investigated, however not in all cases do they have evidence.

Police are hopeful that someone will identify the individuals through these surveillance photos. They say that in the past social media has proven to solve other cases such as homicides.
