RGV (KFXV) — School fights being posted on social media. Statistics from the National Center For Education revealed that in 2013, approximately 37 out of 1,000 students ages 12 to 18 experienced some sort of violent victimization at their school.
Fox 2 News speaks to one school district about how they’re handling these types of behaviors.
During the past few weeks, several school fights in valley campuses, have been caught on camera and posted on social media pages. Officials say that although they can not arrest students they could face serious consequences.
Fights taking place at Donna, Juarez Lincoln and Palmview High Schools.
Social media has played a role in exposing these disputes.
The Texas Code of Conduct says officers cannot arrest students. However, anyone over the age of 10 could face charges if they cause injury to another student.
School officials say that most fights take place in middle school and stress that communication between parents and children is very important.
