DONNA (KFXV) — Two men are in police custody this evening, after leading several agencies on a high-speed chase.
The pursuit ended near South Avenue and South Hutto Road in Donna — less than a mile away from an elementary school.
A spokesperson from the Department of Public Safety tells us, they assisted Border Patrol near the Pharr area.
They were following the driver of a gray Honda — who was driving recklessly and into on-coming traffic and forcing people off the road.
Officials confirmed the deployment of spikes to stop the vehicle, but they were unsuccessfu.
The driver finally decided to come to a stop near a residence — where along with the passenger, was placed in custody, as our cameras were rolling.
At the scene, DPS did seize at least 10 sacks with bundles of marijuana inside.
Residents from that area were not allowed to go into their homes, as the scene remained active for several hours.
No injuries were reported in this incident, however the two suspects are expected to face charges during the following days.
