Protesters Demand to Speak to Ryan During Visit

RGV (KFXV) — While speaker Paul Ryan toured the valley others protested the visit.
This including community members and several pro-immigrant organizations.

Several people took to the streets in McAllen to protest Paul Ryan’s tour of the valley.

In a visit not open to media, U.S. House of Representatives Speaker, toured the South Texas border on land, air and water.
Ryan’s visit marks a first as part of the new administration trying to see firsthand border issues in this region.

After finishing the tour and meeting with local officials at the Border Patrol Station in McAllen.

Several organizations gathered to protest against the Republican’s visit.

Determined to speak to Ryan, protesters decided to cross the road– briefly stopping traffic.

After being denied entrance to the federal building, the protesters sent a written message to the representative.

Despite the protest and waiting for hours, neither Ryan or his office came out to speak to protesters.
