The residents of Hidalgo County let their voices be heard, and those voices voted against the controversial Proposion 1, but how exactly will that decision impact the community?

Hidalgo county judge Ramon Garcia, supported the proposition during this election.

He says he believes if the proposition would have been approved it would be a benefit to the community of south Texas.

Mission city mayor, Norberto Salinas, who was against the proposition says he supports the decision that was made and feels satisfied by the results, he also mentioned he did not approved the fact that this proposition would have increase taxes.

Even thought the proposition was voted down, according to Garcia the medical school at the University of Texas will not be jeopardized. It will still be developed within the next few years.
