Dozens of people gathered at Memorial Park this morning to thank and honor fallen soldiers for their service and sacrifice.

“The world would not be a better place today without their sacrifice. These men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice to make the world better, this nation better, and we at a minimum should be here to celebrate them.” – Dr. Ambrosio Hernandez (Mayor of Pharr)

On this Memorial Day thousands of people gather to pay tribute to the Fallen men and women who serve our country in ceremonies taking place across the country.

In Pharr, city officials, veterans, and community members honor to those who lost their lives.

“We mourn everyday for our fallen comrades. Memorial Day is everyday for us, not just the last Monday of May. ” – Jesus Pineda (Veteran)

Members of Legion 101 participated in the ceremony this morning at Memorial Park. Veteran Jesus Pineda says it’s an honor to be part of this event. Pineda led City officials to place American flags on grave sites where servicemen were laid to rest.

Everyone we spoke with today said everyday is an opportunity to remember those who gave their life for our country.
