Harlingen (KFXV) — A man was seriously injured after being hit by a drunk driver.

Harlingen Police responded to a car crash at the intersection of Loop 499 and East Grimes Avenue. Preliminary investigation revealed that after the accused left a local bar in a white car. He struck a motorcyclist that was stopped at the intersection. The victim was transported to Valley Baptist Medical Center for treatment. During the investigation, it was determined that 23-year-old Taylor Nicole Ramirez displayed signs of intoxication.

She refused to provide a breath sample and was transported to the hospital for a blood test.
Under Harlingen PD’s “No Refusal” policy, Ramirez is charged with intoxication, assault with a vehicle and possession of marijuana. Her bond is set at $30,000. Authorities add that the city will increase its presence during this holiday weekend.

Authorities would like to remind drivers they won’t be able to refuse a “breathalizer exam” this Labor Day weekend and if they do they will be given a blood test.
