A 33-year-old Edinburg man is behind bars tonight in connection to the shooting death of Ernesto Ramos that happened almost four years ago in Weslaco.
On the night of December 29, 2010, Weslaco police officers responded to a shooting near Westgate Drive and Tierra Bonita St.
Upon arrival, police found 33-year-old Ernesto Ramos unresponsive.
The suspects allegedly fired six gunshots at the victims vehicle, one of the bullets struck him in the head.
Ramos was transported to Knapp Medical Center where he died days later from his injuries.
Since the incident, Weslaco police had been on the hunt for the suspects involved in the murder, until this morning.
In a joint effort, police and the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offenders’ task force arrested 33-year-old Christopher Garcia at his residence in Edinburg.
Garcia was arraigned this afternoon facing one count for capital murder and was issued a half a million dollar bond.
According to police, this is an ongoing investigation as they continue searching for at least three other individuals in connection to Ramos murder.
